Born and raised in Israel, Iris’s fascination with architecture began in early childhood. Her interest in the built environment peaked when she was accepted into the Israel Institute of Technology (TECHNION) in Haifa, Israel. She Attended the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning, between the years 1997-2002, and obtained her Bachelor’s in Architecture Cum Laude (B. Arch).

Upon graduation, Iris was selected for an exclusive 4 month trainee program In Zagreb, Croatia, returning to continue her internship at the prominent Architectural firm NAAMA MALIS & SHAMAI ASIF Architecture + Urban Design in Tel Aviv, Israel.

After moving to New York City in 2004, Iris spent three years working for THE COPPER GROUP, INC. A Real Estate developing company specializing in planning and execution services on ground-up and conversion projects, notable developments include spearheading the renewal and transformation of Dumbo, Brooklyn
In 2006, Iris joined the Design team at BRICOLAGE DEISGNS Architecture + Design, where she participated in a number of Commercial, Institutional and Multi-residential projects, from conception to construction drawings.

Pursuing her dream running an architectural design studio, she established IRIS SHEMESH ARCHITECTURE STUDIO, ARCHITECTURE + INTERIORS in 2011. With a boutique client oriented approach, Iris uses her strength in understanding her client’s needs, skillfully transforming them into highly functional spaces, while reveling in the art of aesthetics culminating in Architectural excellence.
Her desire to contribute to a more sustainable future through the built environment is reinforced by her Plant based lifestyle and ongoing animal rights & Environmental Activism.
